Summary

ASM, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the PT Public Safety Officer at ASM/Wildwoods Convention Center.  This position is responsible for patrolling all areas of the property, securing doors, ensuring the safety of all guests, employees, and contract labor while on premises, and securing property during the move in/out of trade shows, conventions, or events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitor post and surrounding area assigned by shift supervisor.
  • Complete accurate and detailed reports on activity during shift.
  • Locks and unlocks facility doors.
  • Conducts routine property walks. (Detex)
  • Communicates via two-way radio & telephone.
  • Responds immediately and with urgency to emergency situations.
  • Interacts with the public, all levels of management, and fellow employees.
  • Appropriately constrains "unruly" people per established protocols.
  • Works independently.  Ability to assess situations for immediate response.
  • Ability to stand long hours.
  • Provide general information to building patrons. (i.e. directions to event location)

Education and/or Experience        

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Customer service background or equivalent work experience.     
  • 1 year of public safety or security experience, preferably in a similar environment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Good communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with the public and professionally handle confrontational situations. 
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible and irregular hours, including weekends and nights.

Computer Skills  


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have some knowledge of computers and electronics.

Other Qualifications 

  • Ability to work flexible hours including daytime, evening, weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Must have professional attitude and appearance
