What You Will Do

As Head of Commercial for JCI UK&I, you will lead a team providing commercial support from tender to project completion. You will offer commercial, contractual advice to Sales, Estimating, and Project Execution teams.

Working with internal stakeholders, you will monitor and control risks within contract agreements and ensure successful financial completion of projects. You will report to the General Manager and play a critical role in the growth strategy.

How You Will Do It

  • Team Management: Lead and mentor Senior Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors. Foster a collaborative culture. Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development.
  • Commercial Support: Oversee commercial management of projects. Ensure accurate contract documents and cost estimates. Provide strategic advice to senior management and project teams.
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Review and negotiate contract terms to align with company policies. Mitigate commercial risks and work with legal and procurement teams.
  • Contractual Support: Ensure compliance with contract terms during project execution. Resolve conflicts and disputes. Maintain positive client and stakeholder relationships. Develop continuous improvement through lessons learned training.
  • Travel: Regular travel for team meetings in the UK and Ireland. Visit project sites, especially for major contracts with potential conflicts. Engage with stakeholders on-site.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards. Prepare and present reports on commercial performance, risks, and issues to senior management.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in commercial management within construction or related industries.
  • Proven track record of leading a team of quantity surveyors.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and experience in contract review and negotiation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly across the UK and Ireland.
