Digital CommunicationsJob Responsibilities:
Develop content about the departments of Neurology and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences for various university communications vehicles.
Consult with neuroscience leaders and colleagues on each department’s communications and marketing needs.
Serve as liaison between the departments and KU Medical Center Communications, coordinating with colleagues who oversee media relations, graphic design, photography, internal communications, and other services.
In consultation with the departments, develop and manage social media channels and collaborate with other account managers to cross-promote content as appropriate.
Manage relevant areas of the kumc.edu website, drafting, editing, and publishing content in coordination with IT and Communications staff.
Prepare e-newsletters, coordinate reviews and send to targeted lists. Monitor and report on campaign performance and opportunities for improvement.
Assist departmental administrators in creating and maintaining biosketches for faculty.
Collaborate with teams in affiliated research centers and institutes and health system service lines on communications and marketing strategies and plans.
Support the university’s comprehensive brand strategy and ensure it is uniformly deployed and integrated across the neuroscience departments.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position that will require a combination of onsite work at our Kansas City campus and remote work.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a similar field.
Work Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of full-time professional experience with some combination of public relations, news writing, website content management, email marketing and social media strategy.
Experience using an email marketing platform (such as Emma, MailChimp or Constant Contact).
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience: Minimum five (5) or more years of full-time professional experience leading marketing or communications efforts
Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Demonstrated ability to produce written news articles of various lengths.
Proficient in the use of website content management systems and Microsoft Office software.
Highly collaborative and organized.
Able to establish and maintain effective relationships and respond to shifting needs.
Experience with web, email, or social media analytics tools.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Experience editing copy for grammar and style; proficient in Associated Press style.
Knowledge of web content best practices and accessibility standards.
Experience working in communications in an organization focused on health care, higher education, or research.
Experience facilitating disparate groups with positive outcomes.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
