Summary :
The retail pharmacy technician is an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team and partnering with patients. Responsible for all technical operations, regulatory compliance, medication safety, prescription processing, specialty pharmacy services/programs, and patient experiences within supervising pharmacies and remote dispensing sites. The retail pharmacy technician is a champion for all clinical and operational initiatives, partnering with the pharmacist and key stakeholders to drive strategic growth and development, program integrity, financial viability, and optimal patient outcomes.
Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for processing prescriptions throughout the lifecycle including but not limited to order entry, third party adjudication, filling, and sale.
- Performs role and responsibilities maintaining the highest patient experience standards.
- Responsible for all technical operational functions and inventory management activities.
- Responsible for operationalizing regulatory compliance congruent with applicable federal and state regulations, external accrediting authorities, and expert governing bodies.
- Responsible for all technical aspects of specialty pharmacy services including but not limited compounding, compliance packing, meds to beds, vaccinations, and delivery.
- Responsible for operationalizing all ThedaCare policies and procedures within pharmacy and associated remote dispensing sites.
- Champions all clinical and operational initiatives, partnering with pharmacist and key service line stakeholders driving strategic growth and development, program integrity, financial viability, and optimal patient outcomes.
- Contributing member of the interdisciplinary patient care team, driving safe and effective patient outcomes.
- Functions as a certified and competent technician along the entire spectrum of services offered through pharmacy and associated remote dispensing sites.
- Maintains operational knowledge of 340B program as it relates to pharmacy and its associated remote dispensing sites, ensuring compliance and program intent in collaboration with key stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED preferred• Must be 18 years of age
- Minimum 1500 hours of pharmacy technician work experience in the immediate preceeding 3 year timeframe
- Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician work experience
- Certified Pharmacy Technician
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the State of Wisconsin
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the hospital campus
- Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
- Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
- Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
- Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.
- Use of computers throughout the work day
- Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
