What you bring to SBHG (Qualifications):

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing with an associate’s degree is required; a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
  • One year of direct experience treating the mentally ill and one year of supervisory experience in a behavioral health facility are both preferred.
  • A valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license and a current American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS CPR certification are required.
  • A valid California Driver's License is required.
  • You must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, staff, physicians, and the public.
  • You must also be able to lead a diverse nursing team.
  • The ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and criminal record test is mandatory.

How you will make a difference:
The Nursing Department Supervisor ensures every Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) client receives the highest quality of nursing care, treatment, and medication as ordered by the attending physician or psychiatric nurse practitioner.

This position is responsible for selecting, hiring, and supervising all Nursing Department staff, while also aiding in the development of service objectives, nursing policies, and job descriptions. The Supervisor maintains leadership that aligns with agency goals and ensures departmental adherence to all governmental and stakeholder regulations. The role also involves participating in budget development and collaborating with both internal and external departments to facilitate smooth facility operations and optimize patient care.

Division/Program Overview:

The Valley Star Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) is a voluntary, 24/7 voluntary, provides immediate crisis intervention and stabilization in an unlocked setting. Open to all age groups—children, adolescents, adults, and older adults—the center is designed to support anyone experiencing a mental health crisis. With stays up to 23 hours, the goal is to provide rapid mental health assessment and services to ensure a safe transition to the next level of care or back to the community.
