Position Title: Information Desk Specialist

Location: Onsite

Salary Range: $19.59 - $23.50/Hour (Non-exempt)

Job Summary: 

The position of Information Desk Specialist reports to the Manager, Public Safety & Security Manager and is responsible for being that first touch point at the entry into Huntington Place.  Will possess excellent knowledge of the layout of the building, events happening within the facility as well as general knowledge of the surrounding area of downtown Detroit.  Quickly learn the staff and their roles.  Customer service and great people skills are vital for this role.  Answering inquiries and obtaining information for the public, customers, visitors and other interested parties.  Ability to perform general office functions and multi-task are also valuable traits.

Key Job Elements:

  • Provide a warm welcome to all guests as they enter the building, should be walking or sitting within the area.
  • Assist guests with building & event information, directions, restaurant & transportation booking, guided sightseeing tours.
  • Perform general office functions, such as copy, scan and print services.
  • Provide visitor information, restaurant, nightlife, attractions, shopping, visitor bureau, shipping service referral, transportation and airport information.
  • Manage motorized scooter rental, complimentary wheelchairs.
  • Possess knowledge of internet access, digital concierge service and phone charging facilities.
  • Track and record lost & found items.
  • Monitor the front of the building and report any fire lane violators.
  • Monitor and report any guests for trespassers.
  • Report all suspicious activity (See Something – Say Something).

Qualifications:

  • Education – bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of two years of work experience in an administrative position in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience – Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible office administration and clerical procedures. 
  • Skills – Strong computer skills including the ability to do spreadsheet and word-processing programs at a highly proficient level including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, etc.; attention to detail and high level of accuracy required; analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Well Developed Communication Skills – Effective verbal and listening communications skills. Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.  Strong management skills with the ability to work in pressure situations.
  • Change Management – Accepts and adapts to change; understands that change is a constant and necessary path for involvement and growth; flexible. 
  • Customer Focus – Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, customer service oriented.

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Normal business hours, extended hours may be required. No travel required.
