The Role

Join Canberra’s market leading commercial, regulatory and projects legal practice, working with Andrew Leece (Partner in Charge of the Canberra office).

This role will see you working on a diverse range of commercial and regulatory matters transactions —including matters across aviation, venture capital, water and energy. The role will also see you involved in managing the overall practice and assisting Andrew with other matters in relation to the office. You will be required to act as a 2IC and manage client relationships.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, the following attributes will be required:

• Senior Associate or Special Counsel level in private practice or equivalent level in-house;
• proven experience as a commercial lawyer;
• a willingness to assist the Partner in the management of the overall practice and to otherwise act as a 2IC;
• a willingness to travel as required;
• experience in both advice and transactional work;
• the ability to take a lead role on matters with autonomy and minimal oversight, project managing confidently and efficiently;
• strong people skills; the ability to communicate and build a rapport with our clients and to work with and manage junior lawyers;

• effective written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate with impact to both internal contacts and external clients

In addition to this, we're looking for a driven, self-starter; someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients. There are promotion prospects over time.
