• Acts as a strong leader to lead the initiatives working closely with the various stakeholders across the organization - Senior leaders, Consumers , Data scientists/Data lake engineers and platform administrators .
• Guide the team of data engineers,technical leaders, domain experts , business and quality analysts to achieve common program objectives.
• Teaming with the cloud engineering, delivery, infrastructure (storage and compute), network, security teams to deliver an optimal data lake infrastructure and implementation experience to the end users.
• Foster a culture of Innovation within the team by promoting out of box thinking .
• Act as a strong proponent for promoting open source technology culture within the organization. Provides thought leadership with respect to the R&D of the open source toolset and technologies.
• Liaison as an intermediary between Data scientists, Data lake engineers and platform administrators to understand the requirements, provide technical guidance/mentorship and consultation towards resolution of their queries.
• Leading the technical discussions across infrastructure teams on tool and infra performance parameters such as CPU, disk IO, memory usage, disk space etc. in order to provide an optimal performance experience to the end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Data lake engineering – Architecting , designing ,developing and enhancing inhouse built open-source data processing framework, leveraging technologies like PySpark, Python.
- Technically lead a team of approx. 5 Datalake and assurance engineers. Responsible for their day to day delivery and performance appraisals.
- Hands-on with coding the data processing framework.
- Part of the enterprise big data team and defining coding standards and performing code reviews for the enterprise framework.
- Ensuring enterprise framework is enhanced with open source and AWS cloud native services to include things like real time streaming , API, database integration , micro/mini batch integration , scheduling tools like tidal/airflow, Appflow, DataSync ,control checks etc.
- Performing PoCs with AWS services for data and analytics – Eg: Sagemaker, Quicksight etc.
- Enabling security through IAM roles, lake formation etc.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of strong advance analytics and data engineering experience with 3+ years of working in capacity of a technical leader . Holding Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
- Experience implementing data lake architecture, enterprise data solutions.
- Mandatory - Experience in programming languages Python/PySpark and AWS cloud.
- Experience with AWS Kinesis, Kafka, Storm, Spark.
- Extensive experience with AWS data services: Redshift, RDS, DynamoDB, Data Pipeline, EMR.
- Extensive experience writing and tuning SQL queries.
- Programming experience in one or more languages (Python, Java, Scala, C/C++).
- Experience with NoSQL data platforms.
- Experience with Agile process methodology, CI/CD automation, Test Driven Development, DevSecOps principles.
- Working with MPP databases such as Snowflake,Redshift etc.
- Experience in Unix/Linux /AWS CLI scripting.
- Have led a team of data engineers of 5+ members. Have been responsible for their performance appraisals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in creating and deploying models.
- Well versed with AI and machine learning concepts – Supervised/Unsupervised learnings, Decision trees, and deep learning.
- Have previous experience of working with high end users such as Data Scientists and Predictive modelers.
- Worked or have sound knowledge of AWS cloud concepts and worked with services falling in different criterion such as Storage, Compute, Network and Security.
- Sound fundamentals of database concepts and experience with relational or non-relational database types such as SQL, Key-Value, Graphs etc.
- Should have led a team of 5+ members in a people leadership role and was responsible for doing regular performance appraisals.
- Experienced in driving initiatives working closely with the leadership and stakeholders.
- Excellent debugging skills.
- Ability to quickly perform critical analysis and use creative approaches for solving complex problems.
- Strong academic background.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills , and strong relationship building skills.
