Summary of Job Duties:

The In-House Agency ST Program offers PRN employment in the Main Operating Room for 13-week intervals. Participants are required to work 36 hours/week for 13 weeks and will be paid an hourly rate plus night/weekend differentials. To qualify, applicants must be a graduate of accredited Scrub Technologist school/program OR surgical scrub tech training through the military and 12 months experience in an acute care hospital. Experience in the past 12 months must include 6 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital. Applicants cannot be currently employed by UAMS, and previous UAMS employees must have terminated more than 180 days prior.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

Responsibilities:

• Provides assessment of surgical procedure. Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases

• Prepares the operating room with appropriate equipment available and ready for use

• Ensures medical instruments are cleaned, arranged, and transported to the soiled utility room according to department policy

• Ensures operating rooms are case-ready for the following day's cases

• Performs administrative duties, including admitting and discharging patients, ensuring front desk logs and phone books are maintained, and managing infant security system alarms

• Assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits

• Performs other duties as assigned
