We're looking for a Senior Manager who excels at building high-performing data engineering teams and delivering business-transforming solutions. In this role, you'll lead multiple Data Engineering Teams with laser focus on the use of machine tool data (for eg. Sensors data, structured and unstructured raw tool log) within our Smart Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence organization. You will strategize, up-skill and shape Data Engineering teams to collaborate and partner with domain experts, data scientists, and business functions throughout the data value chain—building automated pipelines, processing multi-source data, developing data products (lakes, warehouses, marts), performing data cleansing, feature engineering for ML, and establishing data governance. You'll ensure critical projects and production support are delivered with excellence through strong cross-functional collaboration. Spearheaded a digital transformation initiative focused on extracting and analyzing machine tool logs and telemetry. By shifting to uncover new insights optimizing consumable tool life and maximized asset utilization, directly reducing operational costs, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and quality products output from tool.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

Team Management

  • Lead and strategize team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments and encourage leveraging AI-driven insights for better decision-making.
  • Champion an AI-first engineering culture, driving strategy and accountability while empowering teams to leverage predictive insights for decision-making.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional synergy, optimizing workflows between engineering, product, and data teams to accelerate delivery.
  • Cultivate a tier of technical leadership, mentoring managers to drive innovation and embed AI literacy into the core of their management philosophy.
  • Maximize engineering capacity by integrating AI-augmented tooling and optimizing resource allocation strategies.
  • Bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution, translating complex stakeholder requirements into robust architectural roadmaps.
  • Govern architectural standards for Big Data and Cloud ecosystems, actively steering design reviews for AI-driven analytics and data warehousing.
  • Enforce technical excellence and debt reduction, utilizing AI-enhanced automation to streamline the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) for data engineering, disseminating best practices and AI empowerment strategies across the organization.
  • Modernize operations and incident management, utilizing AI-assisted monitoring to predict escalations and resolve issues before they impact the business.
  • Guarantee system resilience and high availability, partnering with business stakeholders to implement self-healing, AI-monitored data solutions.

Strategy Lead Support & Technical Solutions Leaders Collaboration

  • Partner with the Strategy Lead to align stakeholder expectations regarding project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Drive tactical prioritization by resolving conflicting demands and ensuring team focus aligns with critical business objectives.
  • Collaborate with functional technical leaders, bridging the gap between strategic intent and operational execution for building end to end smart AI solutions.

Team Building

  • Cultivate a culture of distributed ownership, empowering teams to operate with autonomy while maintaining high cohesion and performance standards.
  • Maximize talent utilization and engagement, ensuring every engineer is aligned with high-impact work that leverages their strengths.
  • Champion sustainable engineering velocity, balancing rapid delivery with technical excellence to prevent burnout and technical debt.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights, utilizing metrics to track operational maturity and team health across the organization.
  • Foster an environment of psychological safety, establishing frameworks for constructive conflict resolution and healthy debate.
  • Direct talent development and performance calibration, providing actionable feedback to grow individual contributors and mentor junior managers.

Qualifications

Required Technical Experience:

  • B.S. degree and above in Computer Science or related fields (Information Engineering, Information Management, Data engineering, Applied Mathematics)
  • 5+ years of experience leading a technical team of at least 6 to 8 Engineers
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrating strong performance and proven capability as technical managers.
  • Strong experience of using ETL tools (NiFi, Spark…etc)
  • Strong experience of developing in relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, AlloyDB…etc)
  • Application development skills and proficiency with Python, Java, Base shell, SQL…etc
  • Experience with Cloud services such as GCP, AWS, Snowflake
  • A passion for data and information with strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills

Experience below as is plus:

  • Experience for edge computing
  • knowledge in Unix-like systems
  • Experience with configuration automation tools
  • Experience programming on embedded device technology and network protocols being used – MQTT, COAP, BT etc.
  • Proven experience on the process of data being collected, stored and analyzed in edge computing devices (single-board computer, IPC, GPU server, or FPGA)
  • Python script / Shell
  • Nvidia experience

Others:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional groups, with diverse interests and requirements, to a common objective
  • Experience creating, measuring, and improving business processes  
  • Strong communication skills, with a track record of significant direct interaction and peer leadership with partners across the company
  • Ability to independently prioritize work from multiple sources, including quick tasks and large-scale project work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and drive for results
  • Good communication skills in English or TOEIC 650 and above
