The role
The Manager, IT Risk - SoFi International and Technology Platform (2LOD) will help develop and implement the second line of defense IT risk function across our global Technology Platform business unit and operating subsidiaries (Galileo). This roles requires a proven expertise in and understanding of technology risk management frameworks (NIST, ISO, COBIT), testing and monitoring of IT general controls (ITGCs), Amazon Web Services (AWS) security best practices, and the ability to quickly grasp emerging technology concepts such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This role will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks related to the information technology systems and infrastructure, much of which is in the cloud environment. Other responsibilities include implementing and monitoring risk management frameworks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and working closely with various stakeholders to safeguard the organization’s technology assets.

Key dimensions of responsibility include ensuring we have robust controls, processes, oversight, and risk aggregation across our Technology Platform business unit to maintain the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of IT systems and data. This role will work closely with 1LOD Technology Risk leadership to ensure adherence to the firm’s risk appetite, independent oversight, effective controls, escalation, and embedded governance.

You will be a part of the second line of defense (2LOD) Technology Risk Management team, dedicated to driving risk management around our foundational technology, with a specific focus on IT and AWS environments that provide the solutions supporting our mission to help members achieve their financial ambitions. Opportunities for success will include but are not limited to the following risk activities:
- Support expansion of risk management capabilities for SoFi International and Technology Platform.
- Partner with the 1LOD to implement processes and controls to drive down residual risk.
- Server as a point of contact to the 1LOD when applicable and necessary to provide subject matter expertise related to technology and cyber risk management best practices..
- Identify and evaluate technology-related risks, including cybersecurity threats and system vulnerabilities.
- Ensure IT systems and processes comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to IT risk management.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and actionable reporting to senior leadership and governance committees.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of technology risk assessments.
- Collect key technology risk and performance data, establish technology risk trends, analyze and report regularly on elevated risks failing to meet expected levels of technology risk management and performance.
- Stay up to date on emerging AWS services and security features.
- Foster a culture of technology and cyber risk awareness and proactive risk management.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Risk Management or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of relevant Cybersecurity, Technology, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, or Internal Audit experience.
- Minimum of 5 years testing technology and cybersecurity controls.
- Minimum of 3 years assessing risk, cloud-based infrastructure management or development in a cloud-first environment.
- Deep regulatory expertise including risk identification, assessment, readiness risk assessments, and remediation execution.
- Proven record working with control frameworks, testing methodologies, and risk assessments.
- Ability to drive innovation, new practices, and experience interacting with regulators (Federal Reserve, OCC, CFPB).
- Detailed knowledge of Risk Management Governance Frameworks and expertise in building, maturing, and advancing programs in complex organizations.
- Ability to quickly understand complex business and technology environments.
- Strong collaboration and partnership capabilities and ability to build and foster strong cross-functional work relationships.
- Ability to communicate technology, cybersecurity, and risk management concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.
Nice to have:
- Extensive work at a global technology business supervised by prudential financial regulators with a focus on building oversight and risk identification.
- AWS audit or risk management experience.
- Relevant industry certifications, for example, CISSP, CCSK, CISA
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
- Experience working with global teams, Spanish language skills
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
