Job Description Summary

The Subsystem Integration Engineering team supports the product through the entire lifecycle including requirements definition, subsystem tradeoffs, subsystem reviews, release, verification, testing, qualification, manufacturing, and installed fleet support. The Subsystem Integration Lead (SIL) is the technical owner of the subsystem and is responsible for driving technical excellence through continuous improvement, cost, performance, producibility, and reliability of the sub-system. They are the first point of contact for technical definition, design integrity, validation, and subsystem quality.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide system expertise through all phases of product development, from requirements definition through design and development, validation, procurement, manufacturing, and product life-cycle support.
  • Lead and/or oversee sub-system conceptual design studies and trade-offs that address product CTQs such as cost, performance, reliability & operability
  • Define subsystem architecture and manage interfaces of the subsystem.
  • Author, contribute to and approve requirements and flow those requirements through the subsystem to the components.
  • Author and make contributions to customer-facing technical documents.
  • Communicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical design review material.
  • Lead subsystem problem solving, verification, validation and risk mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate and align efforts from cross functional teams both internally and externally to ensure the subsystem development and BOM release.
  • Drive continuous improvement by establishing design strategies, contributing to multi-generation system and technology plans, and managing lessons learned and sick parts.
  • Drive simplification and standardization best practices into product structure, engineering analysis, validation, and program execution.
  • Drive subsystem quality by supporting field and factory quality issues and cases.
  • Undertake complex assignments with long-term business implications, impacting the products’ technical success.
  • Understand and communicate execution risks and dependencies of subsystem technical milestones aligned with the schedule to support the business and problem solve issues as they arise.

Required Qualifications

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience working on wind turbine engineering projects, issues or technologies.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with component design ownership including design, validation, and fleet support.

  • Knowledge of wind turbine component design criteria and wind turbine systems integration.

  • Conceptual design and system-level trade-off experience.
  • Field issues, test and/or validation experience.
  • Knowledgeable about GE Wind Turbine design practices and 3rd party certification requirements.
  • Strong technical aptitude.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
