What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will primarily drive patient advocacy efforts in the Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) community.

  • Together with the Director, Patient Advocacy, this person will help lead, maintain and activate the US IgG4-RD patient advocacy strategy. They will ensure that strategy and approach lines up to the overarching development strategy. They will develop and maintain strong relationships with existing patient advocacy groups and identify and nurture new relationships.
  • This position will be part of a collaborative patient advocacy team that shares responsibilities across a variety of initiatives, partnerships and geographies. Responsibilities include driving the development of innovative partnerships and programs to meet the dynamic needs of the patient community, strong cross functional collaboration and the ability to represent the patient voice across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of the patient advocacy strategic plan that is aligned with the company philosophy on patient advocacy engagement.
  • Drive innovative thinking and approach in order to meet the needs of people living with IgG4-RD and their families, while always striving to ensure inclusion and diversity of thought.
  • Create strategies to partner with advocates, which includes proactively engaging patient advocacy organizations, networks of advocates, identifying emerging issues, and effectively partnering on relevant public health, economic and clinical issues to key stakeholders.
  • Support the development and execution of disease state education and awareness activities.
  • Create and execute on collaboration plans with key advocacy groups based on areas of mutual interest, see opportunities to educate and empower patients and caregivers and build innovation solutions that address the unmet needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Commercial Operations, Brand teams, Communications, Regulatory and Medical Affairs, Government and Public Affairs, Market Access, and Legal and Compliance to define patient advocacy strategy, advocacy partners, and tactics.
  • Represent the patient perspective internally and champion it in critical decision making.
  • Regularly engage patient communities for feedback.
  • Travel extensively (50% plus).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of patient advocacy experience; OR
  • Master’s degree and 4 years of patient advocacy experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of patient advocacy experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of patient advocacy experience; OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of patient advocacy experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience developing and leading patient advocacy engagement for rare, rheumatic and severe inflammatory conditions.
  • Previous academic/CRO/pharmaceutical/biotech experience; rare disease experience a plus.
  • Experience building community in an emerging disease state that lacks robust patient support.
  • Contribute to the development of the patient advocacy strategic plan that is aligned with the company philosophy on patient advocacy engagement.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, a plus.
  • Experience working with multiple projects, priorities and managing multiple internal and external partners.
  • Must have strong planning, project management, communication, and organization skills. Flexibility to work in a fluid, fast-paced environment with multiple demands with initiative and independence required.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Salary Range

146,457.00 USD - 170,697.00 USD
