NEOGEN is looking for a laboratory support technician to support the functional activities within the microbiology labs and provide general assistance to laboratory personnel. Essential duties and responsibilities include media preparation, maintaining general cleanliness in the laboratories, GLP compliance, 5S organization, cleaning/organizing glassware, biological waste processing and autoclave operation. This individual may also be responsible for assisting in sample preparation, hazardous waste procedures, ordering materials and overseeing inventory of consumables. Successful candidate will be able to work with multiple people across several laboratory spaces and use time efficiently. Position is located in Oakdale, MN.

Neogen Corporation is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant to join our team.
In this role, you will support daily operations within our microbiology laboratories by preparing media, managing inventory, and maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and 5S organizational standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable supporting multiple teams across shared lab spaces.

This role is onsite at our Oakdale, MN location to support hands-on lab needs and cross-team collaboration.

Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with media preparation, including pouring agar plates and preparing liquid media

  • Maintain general cleanliness and organizational standards in multiple laboratory spaces

  • Ensure compliance with GLP and 5S principles across the lab environment

  • Process biological safety waste and hazardous waste in line with safety protocols

  • Clean, organize, and manage laboratory glassware

  • Track laboratory inventory and order materials as needed for lab personnel

  • Organize and maintain the biological culture collection and related documentation

  • Collaborate with various lab teams to ensure efficient task management and supply readiness

  • Perform additional support tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a science-related field is a plus

  • Familiarity with lab safety procedures, GLP standards, and autoclave operation

  • Ability to work across multiple labs and teams with efficiency and clear communication
