The commissioned Sales Representative for Utility and Commercial Trucks will focus on driving profitable revenue for these trucks and related assets.  Within their assigned Hub scope of responsibility.  In partnership internally with other OSRS, SAMs, KAMs and NAMs and all URI sales staff the OSR will champion our utility truck and equipment product line to drive the business within the region.  The OSR should focus approximately 70% of their time working closely with and supporting internal sales staff  support with existing power vertical relationships to further our share of wallet, with 20% spent on prospecting across non-power utility opportunities (e.g. Sign / lighting, etc.).  This position will provide significant expertise and sales support by bringing deep product knowledge to customer interactions in the specialized utility truck and equipment space.

What you'll do:

  • Support SAMs / KAMs / NAMs, local reps to execute utility deals

  • Take ownership of assigned substations / service centers to ensure bottom up organizational knowledge of UR product offerings (e.g. Entergy)

  • Ride with and coach existing sales team members to deepen understanding of product line

  • Attend sales meetings, sales training keeping the utility product line front of mind for our broader sales team

  • Work directly with customers on specs, applications, machine use

Revenue Opportunities outside the power vertical:

  • Prospecting a list of target, non-national, non-strategic accounts outside the power vertical

  • Success with developing accounts can lead to the account being assigned to the Utility OSR

  • Work with SAMs / KAMs / Government reps to ensure non-power vertical opportunities are covered

Team interaction, Education and reporting:

  • Attend district / region sales meetings and training sessions, keeping the utility product line front of mind for our broader sales team

  • Educate internal sales staff on an informal and formal basis to effectuate solid “handoffs” to drive profitable revenue. 

  • Report on efforts and keep a robust pipeline using SFDC and our technology tools;

Requirements:

  • 5 – 7 years minimum utility, lineman or equivalent experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively at all levels

  • Proven track record of success

  • CDL a plus

Other Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Utility and commercial space / product knowledge

  • Responsiveness

  • Customer problem solving

  • Independent worker and self-starter

  • Computer skills (Outlook, MS Excel, Word)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on collaborating and conflict resolution

  • Ability to multi-task, plan and organize time

Reuires travel throughout Region / multiple regions approximately 75%, much of which would be driving vs. flying.  Driver’s License required.

This role includes a base salary and monthly commissions based on performance. A minimum monthly guarantee incentive is provided during the onboarding and learning process.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
