Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Technician with experience identifying root causes of quality issues. In this role, you will inspect machined workpieces and assemblies at assembly, inspection or machining stations to ensure conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities 

  • Creates inspection reports from engineering drawings and ensures proper revision control happens throughout inspection process
  • Selects and utilizes standard measurement tools to ensure quality and knows which tool has the required accuracy to inspect feature tolerances. 
  • Imports part files and transforms model to drawing datums as required to measure part features to engineering geometry.
  • Utilizes probing software to create machine language programs for on the machine inspection of 3 Axis, 4 Axis and 5 Axis machine centers.
  • Verifies setup is correct and proofs machine capability and problem solves process errors
  • Verifies all data for acceptance to engineering requirements.
  • Identifies engineering and design GD&T issues and errors creating ambiguity in the manufacturing and inspection process, including interpretation issues as applied to dimensions written or evaluation to requirements.
  • Works with manufacturing and quality to identify root causes and apply process improvement.
  • Communicates quality issues or concerns to engineering, manufacturing and inspection teams
  • Helps others around them to exceed the expectations of their job.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to assist with designing/developing quality gauging to improve efficiencies
  • Background with ISO 9001 or other quality standards for inspection
  • Ability to understand and interpret all drawing criteria, GD&T requirements and tolerances as applied to the engineering drawing and drawing notes. 
  • Use of Romer arm, laser tracker and Verisurf preferred.
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others

Physical Conditions

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment or machinery
  • Use hand tools
  • Repetitive assembly operations of manufacturing test fixtures and test setups in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams

  • High-concentration, demanding and fast-paced

Safety and PPE 

  • Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
  • Manipulating, cleaning and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
  • Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes

Certification

  • Capable of obtaining forklift and boom lift certification

  • Occasionally requires schedule flexibility 
  • Occasionally requires non-standard work-week hours 
  • Occasionally requires working 2nd shift, beginning at 4:30pm local time
  • Occasionally requires extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
