As an Investment Oversight and Operations Project Manager, you will be part of an evolving function built around the management of various regulatory and risk mitigation tasks within the IIG business, with a particular focus on our mutual fund and CIT products.  This position will require a proactive thinker to identify where the IIG business is vulnerable to risk events, and to create action plans to mitigate those risks accordingly.  This is an excellent opportunity to learn about Vanguard’s compliance obligations to its fund policies, learn the foundation of IIG’s operations, and to become a SME within the business around various regulatory topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Support, evaluate, and create processes and controls within the business to ensure compliance with Vanguard’s fund policies, particularly the Multiple Class Plan, Closed Fund Policy, and Frequent Trading Policy.
  • Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, and various stakeholders across IIG to identify regulatory and compliance gaps.
  • Deliver reporting to IIG client-facing crew to identify client opportunities to move to lower priced share classes within their plans.  Also, own projects to ensure mutual funds are properly priced via fund demotion projects.
  • Represent the IIG business at enterprise-wide discussions and projects which evaluate Vanguard’s fund policies, leveraging your experience within the business to advocate for policy changes.
  • Identifying additional risk events within the business and mitigating those events accordingly through project work.
  • Work closely with Collective Investment Trust (CIT) Product Owners to support product management and regulatory support of Vanguard’s CIT offering.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and managing effective working relationships with key stakeholders to influence and facilitate decision making.
  • Become a consultative and influential partner within IIG and across the enterprise, particularly with OGC, Risk, and PRD.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and have a desire to develop additional competence.
  • Demonstrate strong program and project management skills.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be candid to challenge the status quo, while also candidly enforcing our fund policy rules across the business.
  • Comfort with ambiguity.
