The Director of Extended Education and Workforce Development is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, development, implementation, and management of the university's non-credit and continuing education programming, working closely with Academic Affairs to ensure strong pathways and pipelines to varying programs and degrees as needed. This position plays a vital role in providing lifelong learning opportunities for the community, professionals, and students. A champion of collaboration, the colleague will foster strong partnerships with businesses and industry leaders, identifying their educational and training needs and crafting customized solutions that encourage skill development and industry advancement.
In office position located in Fort Worth, Texas with work hours of Monday to Friday; 8AM-5PM or as work requirements indicate which may include afterhours as needed. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a comprehensive strategic plan for Extended Education and Workforce Development, aligned with the Tarleton State mission.
Conducts market research and needs assessments to identify new program opportunities in high-demand fields focused on growth and sustainability.
Designs, develops, and drives innovation and expansion of continuing education courses and programs in various modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face.
Analyzes data and trends to assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with industry partners to develop customized training programs that meet workforce development needs.
Manages all aspects of Extended Education operations in partnership with all divisions, including budget development, fiscal management, course scheduling, marketing, and enrollment.
Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and university policies.
Represents the university at industry events, community meetings, and professional organizations.
Cultivates a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within Extended Education.
Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in educational administration, business, leadership, or a related field.
Eight years related experience in management with a minimum of five years of experience in continuing education or a similar field, with increasing responsibility for program development, management, and leadership.
Proven experience in strategic planning, market research, and program development.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in developing and managing online and blended learning programs.
Experience in building and managing partnerships with industry and community organizations.
Knowledge, Kills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Proficiency in relevant technology tools and software.
A demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and workforce development.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work with internal and external executive-level clients/stakeholders and effectively organize and plan on a detailed, task-oriented basis.
Salary
Commensurate with experience
The position salary is commensurate and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
