We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to join our highly skilled team. The Product Manager will be responsible for customer-facing technical initiatives for product lines that service multiple industries, which include marine, RV, electric motors, as well as lighting and signs. The Product Manager will assist both the engineering and customer service departments as required but will maintain a primary focus on directly servicing and interacting with a diverse customer base by providing technical product expertise to the end user. A few of the many products include electric drive motors, electric blowers, winches, jacks, transformers, and more. The diversity of marketplaces and product lines creates an exciting and ever-changing environment for the Product Manager to display their skillsets. The Product Manager will be instrumental in understanding market trends, identifying new products, creating business cases for new products, and manager customer relationships. The Product Manager will perform the key role of being the primary connection between Sales and Engineering.Expectations:
· Fundamentally understand product portfolio, product place in the market, and general market needs.
· Function as a key technical representative to customers across various product lines.
· Display a comprehensive understanding of product offerings and how each product works in order to communicate clearly with both customers and design engineering.
· Competitor analysis.
· Develop pricing models.
· Develop business cases for products.
· Travel to customer sites for new sales opportunities as well as servicing exiting customer needs.
· Ability to travel and operate independently.
· Be the primary point of contact for outside sales representatives.
· Research markets and identify new potential product offerings.
· Design product concepts based on customer needs or market trends.
· Assist customer service as required with technical expertise.
· Work collaboratively within an engineering team of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to assist with new products and upkeep existing product lines.
· Work with the Director of Product & Engineering and representatives from Sales & Marketing to accurately capture product requirements and translate those requirements into a marketable design concept.
· Research and understand applicable design and agency standards as required.
· Work within ERP system as required for CRM or other initiatives.
· Become familiar with various manufacturing processes that are fundamental to Marmon Power System products including CNC machining, stamping, injection molding, die casting, and more to understand product manufacturing practices.
· Clearly communicate and collaborate with various members of the purchasing team to assist in sourcing manufacturing components.
· Provide detailed product presentations to customers.
· Assist with building and testing prototypes and production representative designs to ensure viability before releasing for production.
· Participate in the New Product Development Phase Gate process.
· Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
· Relevant industry experience
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
· Strong technical skills and general understanding of engineering principles
· Punctuality and work ethic
· Hands-on mechanical aptitude
· Ability to travel (up to 25%)
Preferred Qualifications:
· Sales experience
· Knowledge of the marine industry
· Good at working with hands
· Experience in medium to high volume manufacturing
· Some understanding of jacks, winches, motors, and electronics
