The Red Hat High Availability (HA) Cluster team is looking for an Intern interested in Python and distributed systems to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will contribute to the HA cluster management tool. As an Intern, you’ll (also) work on the management tool itself and/or work on automated tests for it. This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to learn about HA clustering, gain experience in working on a long term larger project in a team, and cooperation with the open-source community.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid internship based in our Brno office, typically lasting 12 months, with the possibility to extend up to 24 months. Interns work on average 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours, and the expected start date is July 1st.

What you will do:

• Participating in developing new features for tools written primarily in Python

• Fixing existing issues

• Improving code quality and test coverage

• Option to work on web UI (Javascript/TypeScript, React) or an Ansible Role for easy cluster deployment

What you will bring:

• You must be enrolled in a Czech university (Bachelor’s 3rd/4th year or Master’s) for the full internship duration and be able to work full-time within 2 years.

• Working knowledge of written and spoken English

• Basic knowledge of some programming language (Python, Ruby or JavaScript/Typescript are a plus)

• Familiarity with the Linux operating system of any distribution

• Familiarity with some version control system (git is a plus)

• Ability to work as a part of a dynamic team

• Ability to work independently on smaller tasks

• Be eager to learn

• Interest in open source software
