The PHP/IOP Behavioral Health Therapist, a licensed MSW, LLP, PhD, PsyD or LPC is a central component of the Mental Health PHP/IOP multi-disciplinary treatment team. This position is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients in the PHP/IOP level of care. The therapist will complete an initial evaluation, gather input from the patient's significant others, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop a person centered treatment plan. Therapeutic interventions include individual therapy, family sessions, and group therapy. Case management responsibilities focus on awareness of and appropriate utilization of financial resources, planning aftercare, and connection to appropriate community resources. The therapist will maintain current independent licensure and credentials, will participate in continuing education, and will comply with department specific competency requirements.

Pay Range:  $29.96 - $49.25/hour

Employment Type:  Part Time, 48 hours every 2 weeks

Schedule:  Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Requirements:  Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology required, Current Michigan certification required, Independent Practice Certification in area of expertise (LMSW, Substance Abuse, CAC, LPC) required, Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider Certification completed by 60 days after hire required

Patient Care-Assessment

  • Completes timely and accurate initial assessments, including patient’s psychosocial history, previous psychiatric illness and treatment, family relationships, stressors and support system.
  • Formulates a diagnosis for patients according to DSM 5 criteria, when indicated.
  • Gathers pertinent information from patient’s family, significant others and past or current treatment providers.
  • Continually assesses patient’s status and progress toward treatment goals Is alert to safety concerns and recommends appropriate levels of interventions based on patient needs.

Patient Care-Treatment

  • Develops a patient-centered treatment plan with input from the multidisciplinary treatment team, patients, and patient’s support system.
  • Reviews treatment plan initially and periodically with patients to ensure understanding and patient engagement in process.
  • Obtains necessary signatures on treatment plan documentation.
  • Identifies specific, measurable treatment goals and the appropriate interventions to make progress toward achievement of these goals.
  • Provides group therapy using evidence-based treatment interventions.
  • Encourages practice of DBT skills for patient while actively involved in treatment and as homework.
  • Provides individual therapy as needed.
  • Facilitates family therapy along with other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintains knowledge about community resources that are available and beneficial for patients.
  • Facilitates aftercare planning to ensure ongoing needs are met following patient discharge from the PHP/IOP level of care.

Patient Care-Documentation

  • Documents assessment, education and treatment in a timely, accurate manner that is in compliance with regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Completes required group therapy notes, individual/family therapy notes and case coordination notes using symptom-focused, behaviorally-specific language.

Functions as a Professional Member of the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team Attends and participates in team meetings.

  • Works collaboratively with team members, seeking and incorporating their input.
  • Promotes interpersonal team relationships by giving/receiving open and direct feedback among team members.
  • Maintains professional licensure through accumulation of required CEU's.
  • Attends staff education meetings and meets mandatory department unit competencies.
