A Day in the Life

Join Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare technology, as a VAT Compliance Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will ensure timely and accurate VAT compliance across multiple EMEA countries while driving process improvements. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multicultural team, collaborate internationally, and contribute to Medtronic’s mission of transforming healthcare. Based in Prague, Czech Republic, you will report to the Senior Tax Manager and work closely with our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partner, finance teams, and VAT Advisory colleagues. The role offers a hybrid work setup, with occasional travel within the region.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Take ownership of complete VAT compliance processes for identified EMEA countries
  • Ensure timely submission of VAT returns, EC Purchase/Sales Listings, Intrastat declarations, and other VAT reporting requirements
  • Act as first point of contact for finance teams, the BPO partner, and other stakeholders regarding VAT compliance issues
  • Review and approve VAT returns while ensuring payments and refunds are processed on time
  • Monitor VAT workflow processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement improvements when needed
  • Support audits and provide VAT data or documentation to internal and external stakeholders
  • Stay informed of legislative changes in VAT and help integrate these into business processes

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 18 months of experience in VAT compliance or in a finance department of multinational company
  • Strong system knowledge (Excel, SAP, PowerPoint, Blackline)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • Experience in managing multiple deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Business-level English skills, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to take ownership of tasks

Experience working in a Shared Service Centre environment, project management exposure, or knowledge of tax determination systems would be an advantage.
