As part of a small, hardworking, passionate, diverse, and accomplished team of experts, you will support high rate builds of New Glenn’s composite payload fairing and fixed adapter including design improvements for cost, rate and quality and rapid resolution of manufacturing nonconformances. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities include:
Act as the initial design engineering contact for manufacturing and production support issues for composite structures and related hardware currently in production at Blue Origin and suppliers.
Identify and implement engineering corrective actions to reduce future nonconformances.
Work with production teams to identify and implement opportunities for cost and rate improvements through design updates.
Own disposition of recurring and one-off nonconformances by working with stress, M&P, M.E., and adjacent hardware responsible engineers to approve repair/rework/UAI/scrap dispositions for discrepant hardware.
Design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary composite structures.
Create and modify 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, installations, and interface control documents.
Work with cross-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world class aerospace hardware.
Participate in the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
Familiarity with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures design, build, or test.
Strong understanding of engineering design and build fundamentals.
Experience with composite structures design and/or build.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
Experience with nonconforming hardware disposition (Liaison, MR/MRB, etc).
Experience with aerospace composite structure design and manufacturing.
Familiarity with production aircraft or launch vehicles in one or more of the following areas:
Vehicle load path distribution, and first order strength assessment and sizing
Composite skin-stringer or sandwich panel design
Material selection, compatibility and manufacturing techniques
Understanding of composite and metallic design and analysis matters
Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, CATIA V5, Windchill 10.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance analysis (ASME Y14.5).
Familiarity with analysis codes: Nastran, ANSYS, Optistruct, LS/Dyna, Abaqus, Hypermash, Hypersizer
Experience working in a multi-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
