Job Description

Responsibilities

• Engage in early design review activity to influence mechanical design and DFM compliance
• Serves as SME as part of the local manufacturing new product development team
• Develop set based evaluations to verify design/ process options to optimize them
• Assess critical design & component attributes for use in Final assembly process development
• Support prototype manufacturing processes, with emphasis on early risk identification & resolution
• Data collection and analysis of proto build results to drive process and design improvements
• NPI Mechanical Liaison/ Manufacturing Engineering (70%/ 30%)
• Travel required, International and Domestic, up to 15%

Skills

• Experience in product/ tooling design & development.
• Ability to develop and utilize APQP tools: PFMEA & CP
• Experience with various materials & chemistries.
• Experience in CAD (NX and/ or SolidWorks).
• Preferred final assembly experience in consumer electronics, automotive, or medical industries.
• Basic knowledge on welding, heat staking, ultrasonic, and other related Mfg assembly processes.
• Understanding of adhesive properties and applications.
• Must be able to work collaboratively with local and remote design and manufacturing teams.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Training in structured problem-solving tools: 5-Why, 8-D

Education Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical or Electromechanical)
• Fluent in both Spanish and English (highly technical discussions)

Professional Work Experience Requirements

• At least 5 years working in design/manufacturing with responsibility for mechanical assembly   
• Experience must include new product introduction & new process development activities
