Job Description

 

Summary

Inventory Control Supervisor II is primarily responsible for overseeing the management and organization of production, engineering, and/or Government materials. Their duties include monitoring inventory levels, tracking inventory movements, implementing inventory control procedures, conducting audits, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Additionally, they’re expected to possess exceptional leadership skills to motivate and supervise a team of inventory control staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing carrying costs
  • Managing and maintaining inventory management systems to accurately track inventory movements, adjustments, and discrepancies
  • Conducting regular audits and reconciliations to ensure physical inventory matches records in the inventory management system
  • Providing guidance and training to inventory control staff, ensuring they adhere to best practices and company policies
  • Generating reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to management to facilitate decision-making
  • Identifying potential risks related to inventory management, such as stock shortages or excess inventory, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks
  • Collaborating with other departments such as procurement, production, planning, and logistics, at a minimum, to ensure seamless coordination of inventory-related activities across the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • High school diploma or minimum of 5 - 8 years of equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in a supervisory or leadership position
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, including inventory control methods, inventory valuation, cycle counting, and ABC analysis
  • Ability to accurately track and record inventory levels, identify discrepancies, and reconcile inventory records
  • Proficiency in analyzing data, interpreting trends, and making data-driven decisions
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain organized inventory records
  • Familiarity with inventory management software or systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software for data analysis and reporting

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Bachelor degree preferred in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field a plus
  • Experience with Oracle ERP is desirable
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • APICS training and/or certification is desirable

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (Constant)
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or Forklift/Reach Truck in loading and unloading supplies and equipment (Occasional)

Special Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen required. Must be willing to work on government contracts and have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.

The salary range for this role is:

$62,741 - $88,935
