Job Description: RPGLE/CLLE Programmer (Senior Developer)
Job Summary:
Responsible for designing and developing enterprise level applications. Provide technical guidance to multiple teams on complex business issues, Architectural blueprints and technical leadership.
What you will do:
• A Tech Lead on RPGLE/CLLE is tasked with driving the development and maintenance of applications on the IBM i platform.
• This role requires not only strong technical expertise but also leadership capabilities to guide the team in delivering quality solutions that meet customer needs efficiently and effectively.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define clear objectives.
• Write high-quality code, ensure code readability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
• Develop technical specifications and architecture, design robust technical solutions that align with business needs.
• Collaborate with other team members to review code.
• Optimize existing codebase for performance and scalability.
What you will need to have:
• Strong programming skills in ILE RPG and ILE CL.
• Proficiency in ILE RPG & ILE CL programming.
• Strong skills in code review, debugging, and unit testing.
• Knowledge of SQL and embedded SQL in RPGLE.
• Extensive experience in team leadership.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on analytical thinking.
• Proficient in both written and verbal communication to articulate technical concepts.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Familiarity with software development best practices and methodologies.
• Worked on the development and maintenance of the core banking product.
• Participate in requirements gathering and analysis to create technical specifications.
• Design solutions to meet identified problems or customer needs.
• Provide comprehensive walkthroughs, coding, code reviews, unit testing, system testing,
• Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on programming best practices.
• Serve as the primary point-of-contact and take accountability for IBM I (AS400) deliverables.
• Collaborate with the team manager to ensure quality and timely deliveries.
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Aldon CMS tool.
• Familiarity with modern development methodologies such as Agile or DevOps.
• Experience in the retail banking domain is essential.
• Experience with Fiserv Signature International is a plus.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements in the banking sector.
• Report to the Project Manager on the status and progress of work.
• Ensure timely completion of tasks with high quality.
• Identify areas for process improvement within the development team and advocate for change.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies related to IBM i development.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience with IBM I (RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE) in development or maintenance projects in current and previous organizations
