Job Description

For our Group Accounting and Reporting team, we are looking for a Controller Consolidation and Reporting. Based in our headquarters at Leidschendam, you play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting, adequacy of project accounting and control, and contribute to the effectiveness of our internal control environment.  

You interact with the various topic experts within Group Control, Internal Audit, Corporate Finance, Finance Shared Service Centres, Treasury and Tax, as well as with controllers within the business units and other business- or group level stakeholders.

You combine accounting and reporting knowledge with a sound understanding of financial processes and reporting systems. You demonstrate unquestionable integrity and professionalism and value the fun factor in work.

Your role

  • You take part in the consolidation and reporting of all Fugro financial entities and produce IFRS compliant information for external reporting of Fugro Group.

  • Analyse financial figures, coordinate reporting processes, identify data irregularities or data quality issues, and ensure corrective actions are taken in order to maintain the integrity of financial data.

  • Ensuring group accounting policies are applied consistently across the group and are properly maintained and updated when required.

  • You work closely together with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team to provide meaningful analysis of the financial figures for the period and how these are driven by performance on our projects.

  • You provide training, maintain and update application guidance and liaise with the team responsible for a global ERP roll-out to ensure it captures the requirements from an accounting perspective including for project accounting.

  • Drive continuous improvements in our reporting and consolidation process including our consolidation tool (CCH Tagetik).

  • You contribute to the design, development, and documentation of appropriate internal controls over financial reporting.

  •  You participate in in-depth topic reviews and ad-hoc projects, which (amongst others) include IFRS 15 revenue recognition, IFRS 9 expected credit loss model, IFRS 16 lease accounting, IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements, FX-exposure, and ESG reporting (CSRD, ESRS and EU Taxonomy).

Your track record

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferably supplemented with RA, CA or ACCA;

  • You have 6+ years’ experience in audit gained within a Big4 audit firm or as a (financial) controller within an international organisation at group level;

  • Sound knowledge of, and demonstrable experience with applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);

  • You have experience in working in a complex, demanding international organisation, with tight deadlines and you feel comfortable with working with various stakeholders across the globe and a matrix organisation;

  • You have experience with project organisations and accounting;

  • You have extensive Excel knowledge and the drive to learn new data driven systems and applications. Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus;

  • Experience with CCH Tagetik consolidation tool is a plus or alternatively you are eager to become a trained user for consolidation purposes;

  • You are a self-starter with a critical mindset, you are enthusiastic to learn new technical skills. You follow through projects and assignments to full completion;

  • You are fluent in English both written and spoken.
