The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be consulted on product and feature designs and will be critical to their quality implementation and delivery. You will have the opportunity to stretch yourself in frontend engineering, API development, and systems integration, as well as contribute to the evolution of this system and the business strategy. You’ll also be invited to attend our regular engineering guilds to broaden your expertise and participate in agile ceremonies, which will allow you to contribute to and define the way we operate.

In this role you be joining our new Identity and Access Group, Integration Excellence Squad who are charged with the design and delivery of how our identity platform integrates with channels across the Group. Building for reuse, they will own UX Patterns, UI Components, SDKs and everything needed to make integration with our modern identity platforms a success.  

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Are driven by passion for designing and developing robust mobile android applications while balancing security, performance, availability, and maintainability concerns.  

  • Have a test-driven development mindset and be able to write and document code.  

  • Can act as an SME for mobile application development for android and be able to understand the current code base.  

  • Can mentor junior engineers and be able to contribute, both individually and as a team player.  

  • Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems  

  • Work well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.  

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Have proven experience developing robust, secure and accessible native Android applications with Kotlin and or Java.  

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with MVVM, Gradle, Coroutines.  

  • Proficient experience with Jetpack Compose and a solid understanding of Material Design.  

  • Advanced experience in best standards and first in class software engineering and architecture principles in mobile.  

  • Possess advanced knowledge in source control management such as Git and Gitflow.  

  • Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines (such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Github Action ..etc)  

  • Solid Unit and UI test automation experience.  

  • Any experience with the following would be great – Splunk, AppDynamics, Banking domain.
