Job Summary

The Patient Logistics Technician works with other team members of the Patient Logistics team to ensure that each patient is appropriately placed in the most appropriate unit in a timely manner. Weekends only 7am-7pm shift, requires working every weekend

Reports to: Director of Patient Placement Center, Patient Placement Representative, Lead

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Appropriately prioritize the cleaning of patient rooms after discharge by directing EVS personnel through the electronic bed tracking system or manually, when necessary
• Assists, as support to the Patient Placement Center staff as needed, to complete assignments for the Department.
• Maintains an inventory of all pagers/cell numbers to be used to use with Tele-tracking bed request system as well as Nurse Station Patient Locator boards.
• Orders office supplies for use in the Patient Placement center.
• Organizes Tele-tracking data for real time custom reporting as requested.
• Verifies all self-pay, Medicaid, and Medicare eligibility utilizing Medifax and TMHP systems.
• Assists with completion of pre-admission process for all direct admits (prior to arrival of the patient) including request of face sheet from transferring facility.

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• + 2 years customer service experience, preferably in a hospital setting

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
N/A

Skills and Abilities
• Basic medical terminology helpful
• Basic knowledge of health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid processes
• Effective communicator both verbally and in writing
• Proficient use of Microsoft Windows applications, including Microsoft Excel
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This role will interact closely with nursing units, medical staff, patients, and other hospital departments

Physical Capabilities
Sitting at a computer most of the shift is required. Should be able to lift 25 pounds

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment. Work is performed in a low- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biowaste hazards.
