Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Compliance Manager provides Compliance oversight and effective challenge across multiple L3’s with a focus on Credit & Fraud customer facing processes. This role will provide subject matter expertise on consumer protection laws and regulations and deliver targeted reviews, complaint/root cause analysis, issue oversight, and the annual compliance risk assessment for assigned processes. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to influence partners across the first line.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business process owners and client teams to ensure understanding of compliance requirements related to business processes within Credit Function. These processes include but not limited to application processing, credit decisioning, account management, underwriting and strategy development/management and use.

  • Serve as Compliance’s credit subject matter expert for strategic initiatives, NPI and Agile projects as required.

  • Work with Synchrony Ventures Team to conduct the compliance due diligence review for acquisition and investment targets.

  • Partner with other compliance subject matter experts and risk pillars including Operational and Credit risk to conduct concurrent review of acquisition targets and assist in the Risk concurrent review.

  • Partner with Legal to ensure that CTCs are promptly identified, mapped and disseminated to the appropriate process owners.   

  • Drive effective identification and management of compliance risks, provide solutions, and assist resolution.

  • Serve as Credit and Fair Lending representative attending weekly functional Working Groups (in Credit and Fraud) to identify fair lending risk.

  • Ensure significant risks are promptly escalated to the appropriate level.

  • Help the business embed effective tools, systems and controls for analyzing and monitoring regulatory risks; be an expert on appropriate controls and documentation of compliance management.

  • Conduct targeted compliance reviews and continuous monitoring activities

  • Conduct Compliance Risk Assessment for assigned level three processes.

  • Analyze and report on key regulatory and litigation developments and their impact on Synchrony.

  • Support regulatory projects to address requirements from various governing regulators, response to exams, and risk testing.

  • Assist process owners with procedure and job aid creation and updates.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2+ years in Compliance, Risk, or related Credit experience at Synchrony.  In lieu of a degree, 5 years of Compliance, Risk, or related operations experience in the financial services industry.

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level: 11

                                                                                      

The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

                                 

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
