What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you as Executive Director, Precision Medicine for either Oncology, Cardio-metabolic or Inflammation/rare disease, you will partner with specific Therapeutic Area leads across Research & Development, guiding the development of translational, reverse translational, and precision medicine strategies. You will be an important influencer for TA Governance bodies and be a direct member of the Precision Medicine Senior Leadership Team. You will apply your deep subject matter and scientific domain expertise and will have the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Serve as thought partner and influencer to TA Governance (TAG) heads as the single point of accountability for the development and execution of strategies for translation, reverse translation, and precision medicine to deepen mechanistic insights, define indications/combinations based on understanding of disease & patient endotypes, enhance success, and overall value of the portfolio within the TA.
Foster a culture of collaboration and delivery, by leading a team of TA Precision medicine leads, who will drive cross functional teams composed of translational researchers, global biomarker leads, technical platform experts, data and analytic scientists, companion diagnostic (CDx) strategy leaders and other key functions.
Collaborate closely with the Research TA Head to embed translational and precision medicine considerations for development of assets within discovery phase to enhance pipeline quality and advance reverse translational strategies for late phase assets.
Mentor and guide Pmed leads within the TA on phase appropriate exploration of precision medicine considerations to inform asset development strategic options.
Identify appropriate data sources and internal and external partnerships to advance TA level biomarker and human data strategies to support translational, reverse translational and precision medicine strategies for the TA.
Be a thought leader for the identification and implementation of emerging technologies including AI into translational and biomarker development
Develop Pmed capabilities for the TA and Amgen, in partnership with the Precision Medicine unit head and leadership.
Serve as key collaborator and thought partner to Business Development, Medical and Commercial Biomarker Teams to help inform key partnerships and post market biomarker strategies

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree & 6 years of precision medicine/translational research experience OR
Master’s degree & 10 years of precision medicine experience/translational research OR
Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of precision medicine experience/translational research AND
6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
MD, or PhD, with 10+ years industry & academic experience
Deep therapeutic area and disease experience, with a track record of success through publications, presentations, and on-market successes
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Executive level training
Direct experience in large pharma
Direct experience in diagnostic companies
Direct experience in therapeutic area discovery/research organizations
Direct experience in therapeutic area development organizations
Experience in software, analytics and/or AI methodologies.
Management experience leading and integrating cross-functional and technical teams
Deep scientific and analytical expertise in integrating multiple data sources e.g.–omic, clinical, RWE
Deep precision medicine experience applied to target TA’s (Onc, Cardiometabolic/Gen Med, and Inflammation)
Strong professional medical network (external KOLs, institutions, and partners)

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $272,313 - $316,432.
