We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Systems Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing business processes and related technology, identifying areas to streamline workflows and reduce unnecessary costs, and implementing solutions to enhance innovation, efficiency and productivity. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of how technology and business needs are driving costs. The right candidate will excel at interpersonal engagement and critical thinking. They will be able to advise senior leadership on opportunities for improved technical capabilities and optimized costs. The complexity of this position requires an approach that is engaging, creative, and entrepreneurial as well as collaborative, with an ability to partner with both technical and business team members to achieve balance across competing priorities at the company.
Essential Duties and Functions
Analyze and evaluate current business processes and systems with an eye towards streamlining investment in technology and reducing technical debt that align with business strategies.
Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance efficiency.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements and technical solutions/outcomes. Partner with technical team members to design and implement solutions to meet business needs. Conduct system testing and validation to ensure optimal performance and alignment with business requirements and desired outcomes.
The ability to analyze complex data and business scenarios is fundamental. This involves problem-solving and making decisions based on both quantitative and qualitative data.
Understanding business operations and processes helps in identifying areas for improvement and designing systems that support business objectives. This includes business process modeling and translating business requirements into technical specifications.
Enables organizational effectiveness –works with other stakeholders to help the team contribute towards improving the overall development Value Stream.
Supports estimating – guides the team in establishing normalized estimates and helps the team understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities, including how to estimate their ROI (Return on Investment).
Effective communication is essential for liaising between technical teams and business stakeholders. This includes articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and gathering requirements from various departments. Create and maintain detailed documentation of the evaluated and improved processes and technologies.
Overseeing initiatives from conception to completion requires skills in planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management. Keeping projects on track and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards is key. Provide training and support to end-users as warranted.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
Perform due diligence on potential acquisitions to understand technology implications and business impact.
Conduct research, prepare business and technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends, as well as status reports for timely management update.
Coordinates with other teams –supports the team’s efforts to continuously improve collaboration with other teams. They often help the team build effective relationships - with the Business Unit application teams, User Experience, Architecture, and Shared Services like IT.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Technology, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst and/or Project Manager and/or Technical Project Lead, ideally with 3-5 years of experience.
Well-developed analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including the ability to work effectively with both business and technology team members.
Proficiency in delivery and analysis tools and software, especially Jira/JSM, Confluence, and O365. Experience with Agile principles desired.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to adequately prioritize tasks with competing deliverable timelines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have experience presenting, including the ability to take complex topics and present them in a simplified, consumable manner.
