We are currently hiring a Senior Data Scientist II based in our Head Office in Burnaby.
As a Senior Data Scientist II, you will work within a highly collaborative, cross functional team focused on solving complex business problems through advanced analytics, modelling, and machine learning. You will partner closely with stakeholders across the organization to deliver insight driven solutions, communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, and help advance BCAA’s data driven decision making capabilities.
You will also contribute to the ongoing development of BCAA’s Data Lake and play an active role in strengthening data science practices, education, and analytics enablement across the organization.

What you’ll do:
Lead advanced descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analyses to support strategic decision making
Design, develop, and refine statistical and machine learning models that deliver actionable insights
Apply analytics techniques to structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities
Partner with business teams to solve complex problems and improve operational and customer outcomes
Communicate insights using data storytelling and visual analytics for technical and non-technical audiences
Support model driven process engineering and automation initiatives
Assess and advocate solutions derived from predictive models that deliver measurable business value
Contribute to the development and use of BCAA’s Data Lake and analytics platforms
Integrate external data sources to enhance analytical capabilities and insight generation
Document methodologies, assumptions, validation, and testing to support knowledge sharing and reuse
Guide the use of advanced analytics tools and best practices across analytics teams
Support analytics enablement and education initiatives that foster data driven decision making across BCAA
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, or a related STEM discipline
Minimum seven years of experience in analytical roles with a strong focus on predictive modelling
Demonstrated experience leading data science projects from problem definition through production
Advanced experience programming in Python
Experience developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments
Strong foundation in statistical concepts, algorithms, and advanced mathematical techniques
Experience working with large and complex datasets across the full data lifecycle
Exposure to Amazon Web Services
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tell compelling stories with data
Preferred experience with R, Python, AWS, PowerBI, and Tableau

The salary range for this position is $121,381.08 to 151,726.44 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 on-site / 2 remote days). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.
