The Patient Account Coordinator gives vital support to the providers and staff of the Methodist Dallas Hospitalist group. Responsibilities include administrative duties, assistance processing care-related documents, and revenue cycle functions. You will be part of a team working together to provide Methodist Dallas’s patients and their families exceptional care by supporting their post-discharge transition back home or to another facility.
High school Diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelor degree preferred. Certifications for clinical roles such as MA, LVN, RN, etc. will be considered as well
At least 2 years experience working in a medical office/clinic or other healthcare environment including:
Administrative duties (e.g. reception, phones, scheduling meetings, etc.)
Experience working with medical billing, charge review, insurance claims, denials, etc.
Processing patient care-related documents (e.g. prescriptions, prior authorizations, home health orders, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Zoom required. Experience with Epic, healthcare billing software, insurance portals, and similar preferred
High-level critical thinking skills and ability to troubleshoot & problem solve effectively
Effective time management and ability to re-prioritize tasks & projects to meet current needs
Excellent communication skills and customer service - by phone, email, and in-person
Manages revenue cycle functions for the practice including, but not limited to:
Reviewing charges for errors and making needed changes prior to submission to payors
Verifying insurance eligibility and ensuring appropriate coverage is used for professional billing
Monitoring claim edit and denial queues to review & correct errors in charges after they have been submitted
Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to:
Answering incoming calls, taking messages, reviewing & responding to voicemails, etc. and redirecting callers to correct department/area/location when needed
Collecting, sorting, and distributing incoming & outgoing mail
Preparing & distributing department communications internally and/or externally as requested
Ordering & maintaining office supplies, equipment, and other items needed for department operations
Scheduling & coordinating departmental meetings & other activities including owning/maintaining meeting invites & attendee lists, taking attendance, and assisting with technology setup if needed
Assists Nursing Clinical Supervisor addressing & processing patient care-related documentation:
Prescription requests and prior authorizations
Post-discharge care orders (Home Health, SNF, Rehab, etc.)
Death certificates (through TxEVER)
Communicates clearly & openly with Hospitalist practice team (providers, operations staff, leadership) and other aligned departments
Other duties as assigned per changing business/operational needs
