POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Planning and Analysis (BP&A) team is responsible for capturing, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting financial and operational data in support of the Global Feedstock Value Chain (GFVC) organization.  Primary responsibilities for this role center around driving insight into the financial performance of crude oil trade activity. These responsibilities are carried out in support of the annual Business Plan, monthly and quarterly reporting and forecasting, and other related initiatives.  The Financial Analyst will regularly interface with GFVC leaders, managers and staff as well as personnel in the BP&A and Controller organizations. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and possess strong analytical skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.  This position will report to the BP&A Crude Manager and be based in either the Findlay or Houston office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent BP&A as part of a team supporting all R&M financial reporting initiatives.
  • Serve as single point of accountability for Crude Oil analysis for specific R&M value chain(s).
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of crude oil and transportation data, identifying significant trends and discrepancies in performance, using various tools to generate insights that inform and guide business decisions
  • Designs and maintains advanced value chain / commercial financial models, providing detailed analysis resulting in the identification of business improvement opportunities that can enhance margin realization, reduce costs, or increase efficiencies. Possesses a deep understanding of key business drivers and KPIs, monitors them throughout the month to generate real-time insights.
  • Involved in compiling, analyzing and reporting on a variety of GFVC performance metrics, including but not limited to cargo activity, derivatives and transportation/storage costs.
  • Compile expense variance analysis and commentary for inclusion into GFVC monthly and quarterly performance packets for commercial leadership consumption
  • Collaborates and interfaces with Commercial team and participates in meetings to discuss analysis and/or analytical needs to support ongoing improvement.
  • Ensures accurate transfer pricing between the crude organization and Refining to ensure reliable internal reporting
  • Support ad-hoc financial and operational analyses

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Majors in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline are preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Commercial or related field is required.
  • General understanding of large ERP operations systems is a plus. (Such as MIPS, MPR and RightAngle, as well as Power BI)
