Key Responsibilities

This is a senior Android/iOS developer role in the Mobile engineering area of Telstra SE&IT.

The incumbent will perform a key role within an agile feature team, contributing to the development and maintenance of mobile applications to further develop Telstra’s mobile applications suite with new capabilities. The role requires an incumbent with deep subject matter expertise in native Android or iOS application development along with running automation suite on respective technology as they will be required to work at a technical level with peer development groups, product managers, Independent Software Vendors and peer groups across Telstra. Additionally, the incumbent will be charged with supporting multiple applications throughout the entire software development lifecycle, including design, development, test support and production support / lifecycle maintenance. The Mobile Engineering team is a large scaled agile team, and as such, we place a lot of emphasis on ‘cultural fit’. The candidate must be able to show various qualities that will enable them to fit and grow in a high performing, critical thinking team. E.g. pro-activeness, willingness to challenge, thinking outside the box, excellent communication skills, highly motivated, strong product ownership and a passion for the technology and mobile space.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you apply deep experience and technical know-how in the Software Engineering domain to:

• Design, build and maintain multiple complex software application technologies and their interaction with Telstra processes and systems

• Develop innovative software that maintains data/network security management, and leverage set processes to reduce the time between commission and production

• Authentically engage with and influence a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra’s time, cost and quality standards

• Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders, seeking support, direction and buy-in to gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our software application technologies and platforms

• Design and execute test automation frameworks for large-scale applications.

• Integrate automation scripts into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing. • Work with stakeholders to plan and execute test plans for sprints and program increments.

• Continuously assess and suggest process improvements, focusing on automation efficiency.

• Significantly contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define ‘best practice’ corporate testing standards and drive improved outcomes (e.g. productivity, customer experience and/or profitability)

• Lead initiatives or components of initiatives in line with the strategic direction of your team/mission, that General have a significant degree of impact to the function or cross-functionally Take responsibility for your actions to drive positive results within your team and guide junior engineers to support their growth and contributions.

About you To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

Essential

• 7+ years developing mobile applications on the relevant platform (Android/iOS) as part of a delivery focused software engineering team.

The ideal candidate will have had some or all of the following experience:

• Mobile application design, development, and testing using native (Android /iOS )technologies

• Experience with Android SDK & ADT or Swift or similar mobile programming language

• Java & Kotlin/swift/Appium development experience

• Experience utilizing standard Android/iOS APIs

• Strong Java development experience or Swift experience

• General optimization and debugging skills

• Component Management

• UX Design

• Testing frameworks – XCTests , XCUITests

• Automated Testing frameworks, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Business Driven Development (BDD) and appium knowledge to write automation test suites..

• Demonstrated Technical leadership at least at a project level.

• Experience working with Solution Design and Architecture teams

• Experience managing customer requirements and customer expectations

• Experience scheduling and estimating technical deliverables

• Experience working in both in-source and our-sourced delivery models General • Experience working with Agile delivery models, with a preference to Lean

• Experience Managing support activities in high availability, high transaction production systems

• Experience in developing applications for the Cloud

• Strong experience in software development environments for high availability J2EE platforms

• Strong experience developing and integrating with web services in a Linux and/or Solaris environment

• You will have current knowledge of software engineering standards, tools, and best practices in particular in a Java environment

• A deep appreciation of platform architecture and technology, the process of software deployment, and environment management.

• Experience in service-oriented concepts in particular microservices

• Code and configuration deliverables for items on the Program of Work

• Track record working with Architecture groups to achieve best of breed and best-fit solutions

• Track record working with peer technology teams to achieve best of breed and best-fit solutions and to deliver software on time, budget, and to specification

Educational qualification:

• Bachelor of Computing Sciences / Engineering

• Bachelor of Business Computing and Information Management
