Core Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various production equipment.

  • Use computer controls to adjust programs, settings and parameters.

  • Trouble shoot problems effectively to prevent downtime.

  • Effectively communicate with Processing Supervisor, Blender Operator, Rework Handler, Trainer and line personnel to maximize efficiency and minimize down time.

  • Help prepare and conduct effective product changeovers.

  • Be able to perform minor mechanical adjustments.

  • Be able to use various tools (screwdriver, hammer, wrench, pliers, etc…)

  • Take apart production equipment at end of run for sanitation crew.

  • Follow our color code system in regard to food safety.

  • Other typical processing duties.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Change or clean grind plates at breaks and lunch.

  • Read scale in order to maintain proper weight per specification.

  • Other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Summary Description

  • Assemble, operate, and disassemble various blending equipment.

  • Gather and verify ingredients and labels for production and blending.

  • Assemble and navigate the inventory scan gun to track real time inventory usage.

  • Communicate with Processing Operator and Supervisor to reduce downtime.

  • Record ingredient lot numbers and other information for proper documentation.

  • Properly label all products with top, bottom and allergen labels if needed.

  • Clean combo dumper between each combo.

  • Follow production schedule and meat usage sheets.

  • Deliver properly labeled, blended products to correct processing line

  • Wash equipment and line as needed for product changeovers.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Follow our color code system in regard to food safety (including labeling product with appropriate allergen labels).

  • Attention to detail in the blending procedure and process.
     

Job Requirements

Food safety and quality are the responsibility of every individual working at Kansas City Sausage Company.  You are expected to:

  • Follow USDA/SQF and GMP guidelines.

  • Previous blending experience preferred, but not required

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions).

  • Be able to work in a 38°F environment.

  • Ability to stand 8+ hours per day.

  • Mechanical ability to set up various equipment.

  • Be able to safely operate a manual pallet jack.

  • Ability to carry 50 pounds up to blending level.

  • Ability to push or pull up to 2,200 pounds.
