We are looking for a Stock Controller to join our Retail Department; as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.

About M-KOPA

M-KOPA exists to extend financial access to people who've never had it. We've now reached over 7 million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa — unlocking more than $2 billion in credit, with 55% of our customers accessing formal financial services for the very first time. Behind every one of those interactions is an operation that has to work: the right product, in the right place, at the right time.

Role Overview

As Stock Controller within our Retail department, you'll be the operational heartbeat of the depot — managing stock allocation, reconciliation, and returns while ensuring the physical inventory behind our customer promises is always accurate, tracked, and accounted for. You'll also be the first line of resolution when products need troubleshooting or warranty repairs, bridging the gap between customers, the sales team, and the warehouse.

What makes this different

Most stock control roles are about counting. This one is about accountability at scale. When M-KOPA extends credit to a customer, there's a physical product attached to that commitment. Your accuracy isn't just operational housekeeping — it directly protects the integrity of our financial model and the trust our customers place in us. You'll be working at the intersection of retail, logistics, and customer experience, with real visibility into how the business moves.

What You'll Do

  • Receiving, allocating, and reconciling stock for sales while conducting regular audits to ensure all inventory is accurately tracked — including overseeing returns to the warehouse and maintaining the depot to a high physical standard

  • Troubleshooting product issues, coordinating in-warranty repairs, and handling customer interactions with care and efficiency to ensure seamless service delivery

  • Producing daily stock status reports that provide the transparency and data needed to keep our retail operations running without gaps.

What You'll Need

  • Demonstrable experience in stock management or a customer-facing operations role, ideally within a retail or logistics environment

  • Strong command of Excel and the ability to analyse stock data, identify trends, and act on discrepancies with precision

  • A college diploma or degree in a relevant field, paired with sharp attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy in everything you touch.

The Honest Part

This role moves fast. You'll be managing multiple stock flows simultaneously, dealing with customer issues that don't always follow a script, and producing reports that others depend on. If you're someone who finds satisfaction in a well-reconciled ledger and a depot that runs exactly as it should — you'll thrive here.
