JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of a complex enterprise network for EVRAZ North America. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure & Security the role will lead architecture design and identify tasks needed to maintain performance, availability, integrity, and security of the network. They must have a deep understanding of networking concepts and technologies, as well as the ability to troubleshoot problems and implement security measures. They must also be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, deploy, and manage complex Cisco networks. This includes designing and implementing new networks, as well as upgrading and maintaining existing networks.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco networking hardware and software. This includes routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Develop and implement network security measures. This includes designing and implementing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security measures.
- Provide technical support to users and other network engineers. This includes troubleshooting problems, providing training, and writing documentation.
- Work with other engineers and technicians to maintain and improve the network infrastructure. This includes collaborating on projects, communicating with vendors, and resolving conflicts.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest Cisco technologies. This includes attending training courses, reading industry publications, and participating in online forums.
- Performs other duties as they might be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Cisco networking.
- CCNP (Enterprise, Security, & Data Center) certification or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Networking fundamentals: A deep understanding of networking concepts, such as TCP/IP, routing protocols, and switching technologies.
- Cisco networking technologies: In-depth knowledge of Cisco networking hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and wireless access points.
- Network security: The ability to design and implement secure networks, using firewalls, intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, and other security measures, such as Umbrella, Identity Services Engine, Cloud Analytics, & Secure Client.
- Troubleshooting: The ability to quickly and effectively troubleshoot network problems.
- Problem solving: The ability to identify and solve complex networking problems, including WAN capacity planning and optimization.
- Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

TECHNOLOGIES
- GENERAL
- SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) - Design, deploy, and manage SD-WAN solutions for optimal network connectivity and performance.
- Network Automation - Utilize tools like Python and APIs to automate network configurations and tasks, improving efficiency and agility.
- Security - Deep understanding of network security principles, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and secure access solutions (see below).
- Wireless Technologies - Expertise in wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies like Wi-Fi 6/6E and their deployment considerations.
- Cloud Networking - Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP, and their networking concepts.
- SPECIFIC
- Cisco Umbrella - A cloud-based security service that acts as a shield for EVRAZ’s network, blocking malicious websites, malware, phishing attempts, and other online threats before they ever reach our devices, protecting users wherever they work, on or off the EVRAZ network.
- Cisco ASA (adaptive security appliance) - Combination Firewall
- IPS (intrusion prevention system) – actively analyzes network traffic to detect and prevent malicious activity – malware & unauthorized access.
- VPN (virtual private network) – allows secure remote access to the EVRAZ network for authorized users and encrypts data transmission for added security
- Antivirus and anti-malware – id & block malicious software from entering our network
- Secure Cloud Analytics - Behavioral analytics across the network to proactively detect threats to ensure a stronger security posture for cloud and on-premises environments.
