GCG is seeking a Cargo Officer who will be responsible for the efficient handling of customers and freight, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the company, the airlines and other industry partners.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meeting and clearing in aircraft through the appropriate authorities.

  • Checking and verifying all incoming shipments and ensuring all trans-shipment are dealt with within 24 hours.

  • Notifying consignees of shipments in a timely manner.

  • Preparing invoices and collecting and verifying all monies received as payment for carriage or handling of cargo and other services performed by the department.

  • Preparing deposit slips along with other necessary documents for Accounts Booking and verifying shipments are sent to final destination.

  • Preparing manifests for outgoing flights and ensuring documents submitted to relevant authorities.

  • Checking and verifying incoming manifests and ensuring documents submitted to the relevant authorities.

  • Entering data in the computer system as necessary.

  • Monitoring and responding to incoming customers queries via phone, fax, mail or otherwise.

  • Sending arrival and departure messages to destination stations.

  • Ensuring office equipment and fixed assets are in working order and schedule repairs and service when necessary.

  • Keep up to date with all airline and company procedures by reading and signing bulletin folders.

  • Conduct on-the-job training with trainee agents, as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A minimum of five (5) CXC passes, including Mathematics and English Language.

  • Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and customer service skills.

  • A minimum of three (3) years customer service experience.

  • A valid driver’s licence.

  • A valid Police Certificate of Character.

  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within the team
