Finance Business Partner (SSRO Specialist)

Salary range: £50,000 to £70,000 per annum (Depending on experience)

Location: Bristol is preferable but would consider any office for the right candidate.  

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

We are seeking a highly skilled Chartered Accountant with substantial experience in SSRO (Single Source Regulations Office) matters to join our team. The appointed candidate will play a pivotal role in managing financial compliance, reporting, and advisory functions within the context of single source defence contracts. This position requires a thorough understanding of SSRO regulations, cost compliance, and the ability to liaise effectively with both internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial management and reporting for contracts governed by SSRO regulations, ensuring full compliance with all statutory requirements.

  • Prepare, review, and submit statutory reports to the SSRO, including Pricing Statements, Contract Reports, and Annual Reports as required.

  • Interpret SSRO guidance and regulations, advising senior management on their implications for business operations and contract pricing.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for SSRO audits and inspections, facilitating information requests and providing clear explanations of financial decisions.

  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with SSRO cost principles and allowable cost criteria.

  • Support contract negotiation teams by providing specialized advice on SSRO-compliant costing, pricing models, and risk management strategies.

  • Deliver training and guidance to finance and non-finance colleagues on SSRO topics and regulatory updates.

  • Monitor changes in SSRO regulations and ensure timely implementation of new requirements within business processes.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

  • Extensive professional experience working with SSRO regulations and compliance within the UK defence sector.

  • Clear evidence of preparing SSRO statutory reports and managing regulatory submissions.

  • Deep familiarity with allowable cost principles, contract pricing methods, and audit procedures under the SSRO framework.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and regulatory guidance.

  • Experience in stakeholder management, including working with contract teams, senior executives, and external regulatory bodies.

Skills and Attributes

  • Advanced knowledge of SSRO cost models and pricing regulations.

  • Experience presenting to and negotiating with government procurement and regulatory agencies.

  • Solid project management and organisational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective communicator, able to explain technical financial concepts to non-specialists.

  • Self-motivated and committed to continuous professional development.
