The Team :
The Enterprise architecture team at the BDC plays a strategic role in guiding the bank’s business decisions & the team is growing! Enterprise Architecture plays a vital role within the BDC’s technology organization. The team leads the development and implementation of innovative, secure, and cost-effective information technology target architectures, feeding into multi-year investment plans, solutions and operational environments that support and propel lines of business to meet their defined strategies.

The role:
As an enterprise business architect at the BDC, you will lead client & employee experience centric initiatives while advising and articulating strategies on enabling business capabilities. You are the thought leader who understands business impacts of technology decisions and can easily explain to both technical and non-technical stakeholders the importance of technology and the value that it can bring to the business. You will help drive exciting new initiatives, own the solution architecture that can not only help re-platform old technologies to improve performance and resiliency, but also enable digital transformation, advance business priorities, and ultimately deliver impactful customer experience. You will work with collaborators at all levels, from executives to product managers to technical architects and developers through a guided discovery process to understand key business and technical requirements
Key responsibilities include
Provide thought leadership, subject matter expertise to business and technology leaders on strategic initiatives such as Digital Banking including online financing, process automation, omnichannel communication & transactions, etc.
Steward & articulate the target state experience for assigned domain/portfolio (which can be a program, products, business capabilities, journeys, etc.)
Assess and analyze business strategy & requirements, the current technical environment and technology options to evaluate solution alternatives that meet business needs and bank strategy.
Collaborate with other enterprise architects (technology, security & data) to maintain a rolling 3-year roadmap of business & technical initiatives
Be responsible for the creation, communication and improvement of the key principles, methods and models that describe the enterprise's current state and future state to enable its evolution
Guide solution architects in your domain on architectural solutions with the goal of aligning solutions to enterprise standards and best practices
Lead architectural design discussions with business stakeholders in Sales and Service domain (financing, advisory)
Contribute to the definition and implementation of technology governance activities (e.g., reference architecture, standards, and guidelines) to ensure that project teams adhere to industry best practices and approved standards
Research and monitor industry trends and technologies to recommend technology direction
Provide leadership to project teams to capitalize on the technology opportunities – Collaborate on team mission / vision exercises with product managers/ product owners
Research emerging technologies and attend relevant professional courses/conferences to maintain currency of skill set
What You Will Bring To Succeed
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience
A strong software engineering and/or architecture background (10+ years of experience) is required, preferably on designing and delivering large scale enterprise solutions
3 + years’ experience in delivery of ANY of the following is an asset :
Online Loan origination
Customer channels – Web, mobile
Sales and Service domain capabilities/ services ( based on BIAN )
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, product managers, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors
Strong ability at taking tough decisions by understanding and explaining trade-offs between business enablement and economics impacts relating to technology concerns
Ability to bring the “big picture view” into day-to-day design & delivery discussions
Experience in designing processes, creating reference architectures and architecture artifacts that guide solution architecture decisions related to applications, data, integration and infrastructure
Experience in Event driven architecture (EDA), Domain driven design techniques (DDD), Hybrid Cloud deployment, Agile practices applied to a product team
Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals
A broad view of the Canadian business banking & experience in financial services (asset)
Bilingualism (spoken / written) French and English
Certification - TOGAF or another comparable methodology (asset)
