Department Overview

The Commercial Mortgage Group (“CMG”) is an industry leader in the Canadian Commercial/ Multi-Unit Residential (MUR) mortgage market. CMG supports existing Business Banking / TD Securities / TD Canada Trust client base providing a commercial mortgage product that is competitive within the Canadian marketplace.  Our goal is to deliver a commercial mortgage product at all times and in all market conditions, subject to assets, structure and other risk parameters being acceptable.

Job Description

Reporting directly to an Associate Vice President or Manager Mortgage Credit, the Associate is responsible for a portfolio of Commercial loan facilities, with the following accountabilities:

  • Underwrite new deals and annual credit reviews, ensuring credit risk is appropriately addressed     
  • Identify deteriorating situations and recommend appropriate course of action
  • Ensure new deals submissions are competitive and completed in a timely manner Identify business opportunities among existing customers and in structuring and writing new deals 
  • Meet established guidelines for number of deals processed
  • Effectively communicate Bank requirements and manage customer and retail branch expectations
  • Develop a network of contacts within the Bank and with industry professionals that will assist in improving underwriting and overall level of service

Job Requirements

  • Good understanding of data analysis, financial statements, cash flow, business cycles, mortgage securities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to build and maintain positive working relations with cross functional teams
  • Above average analytical skills with proven aptitude for problem solving
  • Possess high degree of judgement and decision-making skills and integrity to process and handle confidential details with discretion
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in using MS Office
