Job Summary:
The Procurement Quality Manager – Drivetrain leads supplier quality performance for drivetrain components, with responsibility for PPAP execution, capacity alignment, supplier auditing, SER certification, and continuous improvement of supplier quality systems.
What You Will Do:
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team, fostering strong performance, adherence to Caterpillar policies, and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Serve as a hands‑on supervisor working directly with suppliers, demonstrating strong influence, technical leadership, and the ability to drive measurable improvements in supplier performance.
• Develop and implement quality assurance strategies, processes, guidelines, and control plans to ensure consistent quality and reliability of drivetrain components.
• Lead and execute special-focus projects that target key supplier quality improvements and support divisional priorities.
• Ensure compliance with product and customer requirements, clearly communicating specifications and expectations to internal teams and suppliers.
• Manage supplier quality audits, identifying gaps, ensuring conformance, and driving corrective and preventive actions.
• Use data‑driven problem solving to collaborate with quality, engineering, production, and leadership teams to resolve issues and improve supplier performance.
What You Will Have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Quality Management System (QMS): Knowledge of Quality Management System's (QMS) functions, features, and capabilities; ability to design, implement, test, and maintain Quality Management Systems to consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory compliances.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
• Drivetrain product, component, and manufacturing knowledge, including quality expectations and key processes.
• Technical expertise in castings, forgings, machining, and fabrications.
• Strong quality engineering background, including hands‑on experience with:
• 8D Corrective Action
• BIQ (Built‑In Quality)
• APQP / PPAP processes

• This position is located in East Peoria, IL
• Travel expectation 10% - 30%
Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
