About the Job

The Red Hat OpenShift Product Management team is looking for a Product Manager to join us in our Boston, MA office and work on our Kubernetes container platform. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build open source based enterprise products.
 
In this role, you will be responsible for specific Red Hat OpenShift subsystems and work with our Engineering and Product teams  who build and deliver them to market. You will plan and deliver product content for new releases and launches of our offerings, prioritize and communicate product requirements to guide development, support the field team in advanced sales opportunities, perform competitive reviews and analyses, and work with partners. You will also engage with open source communities that support our container initiatives including Kubernetes, other Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) projects, CoreOS, Fedora, and more.

What You'll Do

  • Collect and document input from Red Hat OpenShift users, customers, community members and other stakeholders to understand customer requirements and acceptance criteria; develop strategy and roadmap for our offerings

  • Define product vision, features, goals, measurable business outcome; use metrics/KPIs to measure the success and health of products and the impact of business outcomes

  • Research competitive solutions, both commercial and do-it-yourself alternatives, document their relative strengths and weakness to develop competitive positioning and collect input for new features and/or products

  • Prioritize and document requirements, epics and user stories for new releases of our offerings

  • Guide major enhancements of our offerings by working cross-functionally with core teams across our Engineering team and the open source community

  • Work with the OpenShift Engineering team and the overall Product team to manage releases and updates of our offerings and bring new Red Hat OpenShift solutions to market

  • Work with our Sales teams to respond to customer inquiries; deliver customer presentations or demos, and support the overall sales process

  • Support go-to-market activities including creating presentations, blogs, demos, and other technical collateral for our product offerings

  • Review and provide feedback on the documentation for our offerings

What You'll Bring

  • Early career enterprise software industry experience working in product management, technical marketing, software engineering or a similar technical role

  • Linux skills and direct experience with Linux container technologies and Kubernetes

  • Skills in distributed systems, resource management solutions, storage technologies, software-defined networking (SDN), enterprise logging and monitoring solutions 

  • Working knowledge of the CNCF ecosystem of open source solutions

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud, or similar cloud or application management solutions

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree preferably in computer science, engineering or a related discipline,  or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to actively listen to customers, stakeholders, and engineering to effectively build a product or feature

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

The following are considered a plus:

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms 

  • Prior experience with the agile development process, methodologies, and best practices

  • Familiarity with Jira or similar tool

  • Previous experience in product management or equivalent product development experience (such as Product Owner/Project Manager or Business Analyst role)

The salary range for this position is $104,080.00 - $166,320.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
