RVO Health is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering group! We are innovative engineers building internal platforms that improve development efficiency, simplify creating secure cloud infrastructure, and drive best practices in application reliability. A knack for product thinking plus strong collaboration and communication skills are a must for this role.

Where You'll Be

To prioritize togetherness, culture, and accountability, RVO Health operates on an in-office work schedule. We expect employees to work from our South Charlotte office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. You are welcome to work remotely Mondays and Fridays if you wish.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with high-performing teams to implement platform-as-a-product thinking, apply the DevOps philosophy, and identify secure, optimal cloud-based solutions in tandem with development teams.
  • Apply AWS Well Architected Framework best practices to build scalable, resilient systems and design automated continuous delivery pipelines for secure-by-default microservices.
  • Drive automation by designing self-healing systems, managing build and deployment processes, and continuously optimizing feedback loops to improve build times and development cycles.
  • Support engineering teams, monitor application logs, respond to alerts, and ensure high system reliability, particularly for high-traffic systems supporting 15k+ requests per second.
  • Contribute to team improvement initiatives and projects, including testing tools, process improvements, and test automation to improve security, reliability, maintainability, availability, and performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with new cloud technologies and provide recommendations for platform enhancements while simplifying processes through self-service and automation.
  • Identify and implement development methodologies that improve production practices, efficiency, and overall team productivity.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for infrastructure layers and contribute to proactive, automated security measures to improve the organization’s security posture.
  • Work on customer data and data management platforms

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of Cloud/DevOps experience
  • Software development experience
  • Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud architecture, configuration, and deployment. Knowledge of other cloud providers is a plus.
  • Experience with event/message broker systems, preferably Apache Kafka. 
  • Experience with Git and GitHub for source control management, along with best practices and supporting tools.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code technologies, preferably Terraform
    • Experience with Terraform Enterprise/Cloud is a plus.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Continuous Integration Automation with platforms such as Github Actions
  • Experience with containerization technologies Docker/OCI and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes and AWS ECS
  • Strong scripting skills (Go, Bash, Python, Typescript) with the ability to develop tooling and integrate with 3rd party APIs
  • Experience implementing observability and monitoring solutions, covering logging, metrics, tracing, and synthetics checks; Using platforms like Cloudwatch, Datadog, Prometheus, etc.
  • Willingness to learn, a can-do attitude, and motivation to succeed and grow
  • Extensive knowledge of DevOps / CloudOps best practices in an always-available environment
  • Experience working in UNIX/Linux environments
  • A security-first mindset and familiarity with cloud security best practices and compliance standards such as HIPAA and SOC2.
  • Excitement about mentoring and training early career platform engineers

Pursuant to various state Fair Pay Acts, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company. The following benefits are provided by RVO Health, subject to eligibility requirements.

  • Starting Salary: $100,000 - $140,000
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications and experience
