Position Purpose: Under general supervision, this position generates premium rates to Large Group clients using various rating methodologies (community rates, adjusted community rates, and full experience) for their assigned book of business and/or new business opportunities. The Underwriter II determines the premium rates by reviewing the risk characteristics of the employer group: type of industry, contribution levels, participation, carrier history, benefits requested and determines the networks and/or plans that can be offered.

  • Provides internal and external analytical services in support of the annual, quarterly and monthly reports due to our customers. Ensures data integrity of the employer reporting packages.
  • Supports Sales and Marketing by analyzing employer specific utilization report and provides recommendations to address risk issues and high utilization.
  • Tests, develops, designs, analyzes, implements and manages the employer group reports.
  • Gathers and examines appropriate documentation and data required to calculate and produce rate quotes, renewals, and rate renewal packages.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance or related field preferred
  • 5+ years in Underwriting or HMO preferred

Pay Range: $25.97 - $46.68 per hour
