The Director – Application Modernization is responsible for Technical Program Management and provide technical leadership over the simplification and modernization for apps migrated to cloud as part of our cloud journey. This role provides strategic direction to the program team and works with cloud architects, engineers, developers, application security team scrum masters to ensure program goals and objectives are and remain aligned to the strategic direction of the program. The role collaborates with leaders and stakeholders across IT and the business to ensure proper coordination and execution of activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tech ownership for the end-to-end flow / process for app migration to cloud across multiple LOBs, infra shared platforms, etc.

  • The incumbent will work closely with app architects, developers, cloud engineers, and application security engineers to provide engineering oversight of the migration of 400+ application and data assets to the Cloud. 

  • The candidate will use his/her technical experience to influence the right level of app modernization to cloud in close partnership with cloud services team.

  • Will drive adoption of cloud native solutions by working closely with Cloud Sol  architecture and cloud services team.

  • Work on an overall plan for upstream and downstream integrations and dependencies that applications need and help sequence them to achieve efficiencies in migration.

  • The candidate will work closely with the cloud services team to influence service delivery as we migrate to AWS.

  • Will update, advise, and collaborate with senior leadership regarding the ongoing alignment of the program to the business and technology strategy.

  • Work across multiple value streams of stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors to ensure program is delivered on time, within budget and meets the strategic and business requirements.

  • Continually identify, log and mitigate risks and issues within projects

  • Identify required granularity to satisfy visibility and control needs while articulating complex schedules and inter-dependencies clearly for stakeholders

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field required.

Tools Knowledge & Certifications

  • AWS practitioner certification preferred.

  • Hands on experience of Rally, MS Excel, Word, Visio, Project, Jira, and PowerPoint

Work Experience

  • 3+ Years proven experience in leading major cloud migration projects to AWS.

  • 10+ years combined IT experience in Strong Engineering and Execution

  • Experience managing large, complex cloud projects of $50M+ to quality, time, and budget.

  • Experience in full SDLC project delivery with a variety of methodologies i.e., Agile, Scrum

  • Proven track record leading executives and influencing others towards a common goal.

  • A demonstrated ability to rely heavily on influence over authority to drive deliverables.

  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to clearly articulate messages

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting capabilities

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$151,600 - $227,400
