Job Description:

General Description:  Under the general direction of the Financial Leadership, plans, organizes and directs financial and budgeting.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and assists in the timely completion of monthly financial reports, organizes and controls financial reporting policies for revenue, expenditure of funds, and conservation of assets.
  • Supervises staff for general accounting. Makes decisions involving hiring, promotion, compensation administration, and termination of employment.
  • Oversees accounting entries and reconciliation of accounts. May be required to prepare journal entries.
  • Coordinates reports generated from subsidiary ledgers.
  • Supports the preparation and review of form filings and associated financial statements, footnotes, management's discussion, analysis and supporting schedules.
  • Ensures all deadlines are met and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is applied appropriately.
  • Evaluates significant accounting transactions, research and implementation of relevant accounting technical standards, and preparation of accounting memos supporting all accounting positions.
  • Coordinates policy implementation and review of new accounting standards.
  • Reviews and coordinates the financial and statistical reporting and controls.
  • Keeps executive leadership informed on the status of all financial service matters.
  • Develops and recommends new or modified accounting systems and processes to provide complete and accurate financial and statistical reporting.
  • Assists with preparation and implementation of the annual budget.
  • Coordinate and prepare for year-end audits by public accounting firms and third-party auditors.
  • Leads, develops, coaches, and effectively manages the team to ensure deliverables and performance metrics are met.
  • Develops team to accomplish results through training, development, performance management and recognition.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Experience: 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a large organization required. Healthcare experience preferred.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: CPA or CMA preferred; HFMA Certifications preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Expertise in financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls

·         Leadership skills to drive performance through delegation to managers and staff

·         Demonstrated business acumen. Demonstrated business understanding and ability to balance people/ organizational decisions with business considerations.

·         Must be a strategic thinker, self-motivated and have excellent problem-solving skills

·         Demonstrated excellence in change management skills and project leadership

·         Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

·         Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with people throughout the organization, ability to gain buy-in from multiple people for the good of the organization

·         Ability to maintain integrity and trust among leadership and staff 

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially expertise in Microsoft Excel

·         Working knowledge of accounting information systems

·         Skilled in using various analytical tools and techniques and experience using metrics to drive decisions

·         Position does require working some weekends and holidays to meet deadlines
