We are seeking a full-time Counseling Program Manager for designated counseling specialized practice areas. Although primarily a non-supervisory activity, a large and/or complex program, or one undergoing rapid growth may require that the Program Manager supervise support staff. Shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students as a Counseling Program Manager for the ground and online modalities in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences.

What you will do:

  • Develop internal and external community relationships that promote and support the counseling programs, college, and university, in the retention and recruitment of students.

  • Support/lead community outreach and campus activities such as workshops, career fairs, and conferences/continuing education events.

  • Coordinate data collection, translate and interpret data, prepare required reports, facilitate program reviews, and assist with modifications for the counseling programs.

  • Participate in academic committee and college meetings as appropriate.

  • Assist the college with counseling accreditation processes.

  • Work directly with the Academic Compliance and Regulation department to ensure alignment of course curriculum and practices with state board specific rules for counseling programs.

  • Assist with the Professional Practices Committee and other student remediation related efforts.

  • Assist with practicum/internship matters and collaborate with the Office of Field Experience to address site and student needs/concerns.

  • Assist the Curriculum Development Department with curricula revisions and development.

  • Support faculty teaching in the counseling programs, and any associated administration support (i.e., student worker) and assist in organizing quarterly ground/virtual meetings.

  • Assist with course transfer approvals, grade appeals, and single course requests.

  • Primary contact for student issues related to programs and responsible for coordinating the resolution of student issues at the college level. Ensure that students receive a response within reasonable time. 

  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by college leadership. 

What you need:

  • Master’s degree in professional counseling, clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, or other related counseling degree.

  • Dependent or independent licensed in a counseling related field such as professional counseling.

  • Two or more years of experience in the counseling field.

  • One or more years of post-secondary academic experience in any capacity. 

  • Knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of academic platforms and related tools/software.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
